The Fat Black Pussycat, a Greenwich Village staple since the 1950s, hosted the talented design team of LAL Couture. The easygoing atmosphere of the Pussycat was the perfect backdrop for a boutique fashion show. This was the perfect marriage of retro space and innovative design.
Boho and The Winter Vintage Collection by LAL Couture
LAL Couture distinguishes itself from other designers through a style that is sincerely feminine and elegant. The 2013 Winter Vintage Collection by LAL Couture is Bohemian inspired (also known as “Boho-chic”).
Boho-chic is a popular look in the U.S. that is inspired by the sub-continent of India. Many of the designs are colorful, boldly patterned and eclectic. People who attended the Holiday Fashion Show and Networking Event by LAL Couture fawned over the red lace kameez and dupatta.
These fashion-forward designs are completed with lace and—what is an outfit without the proper headwear? Cloche hats specifically. The cloche hat is a fitted, bell-shaped hat for women that was popular in the early 1900s, especially popular during the 1920s, and continued to be commonly seen until the mid 1930s.
The real beauty is: every woman can add their own style to LAL couture’s clothing and create their own identity—something that is truly unique.
In the big world of New York City fashion, LAL Couture is one of the standout clothing designers. The headwear, such as the dupatta and cloche hat, and high-waisted skirts creates an amalgam of classic looks. Inspired by fashion culture in France and India this season, LAL Couture blends the past with the present to create the future. Fashion is a beautiful thing, as it borrows themes from different cultures in the world and different time periods to make it all their own.
