The Movelife is headlining the Today’s Mixtape Festival ’15 in Patchogue. The Movielife lead vocalist Vinnie Caruana gave LIB Magazine the inside scoop!
LIB: What brings you back to the Today’s Mixtape Festival this year?
Caruana: The chance to play Long Island again is a dream. When East Coast Collective sweetened the deal by offering us a chance to play with our peers and bands we have history with, we jumped at the opportunity.
What should fans expect to see/hear from The Movielife at Today’s Mixtape Festival?
Songs from our entire career. Everyone will be very happy with the set list.
Which band(s) are you looking forward to watching at Today’s Mixtape Festival?
Incendiary is at the top of my list. As far as hardcore goes, it’s the real deal.
What is your most memorable Long Island show?
Our first show will always be the most memorable. It was in a basement in Baldwin, surrounded by friends, I was more nervous than I’ve ever been. I believe I faced away from the crowd for most of it. That started it all.
What is your favorite Long Island craft beer?
Barrier has got to be my favorite brewery. I lived in Long Beach and it was a short train ride to the brew house. Great people serving at the bar.
What are your favorite things to do down in Long Beach during the summertime?
Swimming 10 times a day, dragging striped bass onto the sand, hanging with my close peoples. We have a great crew there.
If you could collaborate with any artist/band who would it be?
Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields, best of all time.
What does the Long Island music scene mean to you?
For a long time it was my life. It played a big part in me becoming who I am today. It’s family. I was there when it all happened. And I’m proud.
What’s next for The Movielife?
Try to keep the train on the tracks and make the people happy. New music one day…who knows, I am an optimist.
