With Butler’s interception, this year’s installment of the Super Bowl was over! We have 3 long weeks until pitchers and catchers; a full month and a half for MLB’s opening day. March Madness is one month away. Local basketball is nothing to write home about this season. Yes, we have 2 local hockey teams playing well, but the nights can be long and the lack of distractions unsettling. For you sports fans, things are about to change.
Enter Hops and Props Craft Beer Fest, February 7th, 2015 in Garden City.
Most craft beer festivals are located in large, plain, multi-functional venues with ZERO charm and an industrial feel. Most times, it feels like we are drinking in an institution. Hops and Props event is located at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, not far from the Nassau Coliseum. As we enjoy our beautifully crafted beers, we have the opportunity to be a part of Long Island’s awesome airplane exhibits, a part of the area’s illustrious aviation history. Come out Saturday, enjoy a hoppy IPA while examining at a B52 Bomber jet.
This event will boast 90 beer vendors! LIB favorites and local brewers Great South Bay, Long Ireland, Eclectic Ales and Montauk Brewing Co. will be pouring their fantastic concoctions. Outside of the local gems pouring here, some out of towners will be on display here. Regional pourers include Founders Brewing of Michigan and California’s 21 Amendment Brewery (Bay Area) and Ballast Point pouring out of San Diego. This festival actually goes International: Take a much need vacation to Scotland with Innis & Gunn Brewing out of Edinburgh, Kaiser Bräu from Germany. Miltenberger Brewing, quite possibly the oldest brewing company, has been brewing since 1654. In other words, this event has it all.
