The Village of Babylon Hosts its first Pride Parade

This has been more than 50 years in the making! The Village of Babylon hosted its first Pride Parade! This couldn’t have come at a better time! We shook off the doldrums of quarantine life and took to Deer Park Ave for an event like none other. Team LIB was proud to be part of this.

This was less of a parade and more of a celebration. Sunday celebrated life, love and the ability to live your own truth. Bouncy dance music filled the hot humid air. Vocals from Madonna, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston and even Dennis Ferrara was the backdrop of this day. It felt like a great big block party.

The truth behind days like this is, that at the end of the day we all essentially want the same things. We want to be loved, want to be respected, want to live our own life, our way. No matter if you’re straight, gay, asexual or any iteration of the above, we are equals. We all belong to the same race- human. We should celebrate what makes us, perfectly us.

The Grand Marshal was Roman Control. Roman is also the face of our sister publication Amour Fou Revue. Roman is a Babylon Village staple and one of the most welcoming people I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Team LIB is proud to call him friend… We are also proud of the job she did a Grand Marshall.

In this time of turmoil, it feels like somethings are right. Babylon’s Pride Parade was one of them. We can’t wait for next year edition!!

Photos will be posted on Instagram daily until finish. LIB’s handle is LIB_Mag. Amour Fou’s is Amour_FouRevue. Give us a like and share… And tag a friend!

Just because it was awesome we are including Joey Nicosia signing the Star Spangled Banner
