After living in the safety of a college dorm, life anywhere else was a very rude awakening. Being an adult is never something that came naturally to me seeing the amount of trial-and-error trauma-drama I had to go through before I learned oh-so-many valuable life lessons in my youth. I lived at home with my parents, then in a college dorm, then a weird, scary transitional summer of staying with randos before we found an apartment in the Bronx. I can’t tell you how many times I asked myself why I didn’t take the other road, but way too late…
Galleries and museums have always been a great way for me to explore cities I visited and lived. When I moved to Salt Lake City, I attended their monthly city-wide gallery strolls with camera on hip and ready to hang with the local community where we responded as such to the ever changing art scene. When I moved back to New York City and offered a job at a publishing company in SoHo, it was accepted with the fullest intent to take advantage of exhibit openings (and sample sales! Restaurant openings! Movie premieres!) in the neighborhood. So many champagne toasts…

Enjoy! – K From The Sketchbook Project, hosted by The Brooklyn Art Library: Last month we shared our 5 Art Fears and ways to get over them. We had such a great response that we decided to dive deeper into each one. Starting with number 1, “I’m not an artist.” This is such a common thing for all creative people to say. We are always second guessing our worthiness of being an artist or not. But we are here…

From this moment forward you are no longer an extra in your life story. You are the lead! Bravo! To those who deconstruct the concept of life taught to them so to rebuild lives of joy and value, in pursuit of their dreams, not others’ expectations. Guided by a blind compass, we find the courage to expand our understanding of all life has to offer, to make something from nothing. aLICe aMPLIFIED! is a celebration of our stories and the grit and grace it takes to grow into the best versions of ourselves and build solid foundations for future generations.…
