Sara Erenthal – Artist Extraordinaire Brooklyn based multi-media artist. www.saraerenthal.com I love Ms. Erenthal’s works. Much like Adam FU, her art tends to pop up all over the place when least expected. I finally learned her name at the Summer Classics Block Party at First Street Green Art Park in the Lower East Side, Manhattan, where one of her lady sketches drawn on a board was propped up on a tree outside the park. Sara Erenthal’s works are everywhere, she is a wonderful artist to start with on your walking adventures in search for cool street art because she seems…

FSG (First Street Green) Art Park is a nonprofit, all volunteer based organization which hosts parties for the city using their park (once an empty lot filled with tons of trash), inviting musicians & DJ’s to perform on stage, providing giant blank canvases for community murals, and allowing people like me the chance to meet some of the artists I admire and follow. I had the pleasure of visiting their community at the Summer Classics Block Party 2017 with my best friends and some little ones. Watching my friend’s kids interact with the country’s most popular emerging street artists, ask…

The whiteout and eventual destruction of 5Pointz was devastating. In 2013, Long Island City residents and visitors lost a very important fight to preserve a landmark which housed some of the world’s most beloved graffiti artists’ works. Even with popular artist Banksy trying to fight the good fight, there was simply no convincing the property owners to not build their condos. It was tough seeing the empty lot that once exhibited over 1,500 works from 300 artists, unaware an incredible project which would help ease a loss was already growing strong in Brooklyn. Between the Morgan and Montrose stops on…

Picasso didn’t retire after a single painting. And I, for one, am glad he left the world a full catalog of paintings, sketches and unique portraits of various mediums with volumes of stories to accompany each. His legacy is rich with innovative techniques and personal masterpieces I enjoy gazing at occasionally. He’s one of many artists who have paved the way for their upcoming counterparts for centuries, to make it easier for people to showcase their works, voice their political opinions, remind us of history’s truths, build foundations for future generations, and strive to keep growing creatively. The world could…

Raised in Ridgewood, I often can’t help but recall random childhood memories as I still live in and wander the neighborhood. Three decades later, I see many of the same landmarks (and surprisingly people!) and think back to the image of me in a catholic school uniform stepping over empty crack vials, avoiding syringes on my walk to school. While there weren’t mountains of drug waste in my neighborhood it was a way of life for me and it hasn’t yet ceased to amaze me…

Long gone are the days New York City mayors fought to eradicate graffiti from the public eye since art can no longer confined to any one concept. NYC now thrives to showcase its greatest talents using any medium, often on the sides of buildings or integrated into public spaces for us to engage and feel inspired. In spite of watching helplessly the closure of 5Pointz, a most beautiful and internationally influential landmark which was shut down in 2013, the street art community continues to grow rapidly, using commercial spaces and vehicles to leave their imprints for wandering eyes to admire…
