Love is a complicated mixture of emotions and displays; that goes about triple for the world of hip hop and true love. For the newly engaged Bow Wow and Erica Mena, the connection between music/reality stardom and well, marriage have a great chance of reaching a happy medium. At least we’re hopeful.

In the entertainment industry though, where blurred lines occur too often between reality and the persona that an actor or an artist creates, feelings of love will typically take a backseat to careers. Robin Thicke’s divorce is another example that a lifestyle portrayed as a sex symbol cannot necessarily coexist together with marriage – at least not harmoniously. On the other hand, Jay-Z and Bae, aka a married couple or over 6 years, were rumored to be on rocky ground (especially after the elevator incident with Solange) but have done everything in their power to publicly put those rumors to rest. However, ideas are still swirling that the financial obligations of the On the Run tour might be the only thing keeping their relationship together.

Kanye West still remains in the midst of marital bliss and to be honest, everyone deserves happiness – at least in my humble opinion. We cannot overlook the fact this is Kim Kardashian’s third marriage and can’t help but suggest the obvious question How long will this Kardashian marriage last? The dark cloud of divorce has been pending gloom over their happiness even before they walked down the aisle.
Khloe Kardashian, who suffered through an emotional divorce from NBA star Lamar Odem, but is apparently now looking to reconcile with her ex amidst claims she never actually signed the final paperwork from the split. The news comes just days after she apparently dumped younger flame French Montana – or is this a bad time to bring that up?
Love has the ability to conquer big and small – but for Big Sean and Glee actress Naya Rivera, their careers pulled them in different directions and they ended their relationship. (Naya has since moved on and remarried). Nas and Kelis, Snoop Dogg, TI and Tiny, Eminem and Will and Jada Smith have had either divorce rumors buzzing over their heads or have turned the rumors into court hearings and subpoenas.
Hip hop entertainers are certainly not evil just because their institution of marriage doesn’t always work. In a country where more than 50% of any marriage ends in divorce, artists are only a reflection of the growing methodology that living single can be better than together. What are your thoughts?
