David Diamond, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist music career spans more than twenty years. Diamond took the time to share his creative writing process, collaborations and his summer tour.
What was the first instrument you ever played?
Diamond: Drums
Which instrument is your favorite to play?
Diamond: Drums and guitar
What instrument do you start the song writing process with?
Diamond: Guitar usually
Who is your favorite acclaimed musician that you worked with?
Diamond: I did two shows with Bob Weir (founding member of the Greatful Dead) and was in a band with Donna Jean Godchaux (former member of the Greatful Dead) for three years.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Diamond: Jeff Tweedy, an American songwriter, musician, record producer and member of the band Wilco, Nick Drake, an English singer-songwriter and musician, and Ryan Adams, an American singer-songwriter, musician, producer and former member of Whiskeytown.
What bands are you currently listening to on your iTunes?
Diamond: White Denim, Blitzen Trapper, Bob Dylan, The Meters, Jackson Browne, Spoon, Jim Hall and Pat Matheny. Should I go on?
What’s next after your summer tour?
Diamond: I will be recording the follow-up to Trois with the band in the studio, setting up to record live. Hopefully that doesn’t take too long!
