It seems as if new burger joints are popping up everywhere. Celebrity chefs set up shop and charge top dollar for their patty-shaped products. When eating at Bobby’s Burger Palace (the brainchild of Chef Bobby Flay), do you feel like Flay is really in the kitchen?
Enter a change in attitude: Enter Dirty Burger. A simple Long Island restaurant doing what they do, and very well.
We met the guys at Dirty Burger last year at the Long Island Buffalo Festival, when owner Ian Russo took home the WWE inspired Wing Championship Belt for Nassau County, and the Miller Lite Festival Cup. The judges stated these are the best wings of all Nassau County. We cannot disagree, but exactly how good is a “dirty burger?”
The choices were endless – Dirty, in a good way – from the front of the menu to the rear. Just so we are on the same page, the term dirty refers to the burger seasoning. Dirty seasoning is like a Cajun mix with a twist. It was the Dirty Burger’s equivalent of the Spanish Adobo or eastern Europe’s Vegeta.
The Dirty Verdict
On the day of this review, we decided to test out the Dirty Lamb Burger. The subtleness of the lamb, combined with the dirty seasoning, is splendid. I personally love lamb — made slightly on a medium rare side, that is. The medium rare lamb with dirty seasoning must have be one of my favorite burgers I’ve had in years. Well-done fries with the same amazing seasoning were top notch.
Dirty Burgers are amazing burger varieties paired with award winning wings. It honestly has become one of my favorite burger joints, not just in Long Island but anywhere. Sharing a shopping center with the fabulous Fairway Market in Plainview, this area might be Long Island’s food capital.
