I love music festivals, I absolutely love them! There was something missing from my life and I figured out what that was this past weekend, Electric Zoo. Electric Zoo 2023 was the first festival I’ve been to since the pandemic. For someone who’s attended a lot of electronic festivals, I missed festivals, I missed Electric Zoo.
Electric Zoo kicked off shaky, to say it mildly. The three-day festival cancelled Friday’s festivities. Saturday was set to open at 11am but wound-up opening at 3pm. The festival was beset with lines, crowds, and overwhelming confusion. Ubers weren’t allowed drop offs or pickups. Sunday they shut gates at 5pm. All ticket holders who were not on the grounds, were forced to turn around and go home. EZoo was a logistical nightmare.
However, one doesn’t go to EZoo to wow in the logistics of a concert; they come for the music. The music did not disappoint. Below are the best three sets of the festival in my opinion
Gryffin through the smoke
Alison Wonderland
Alison Wonderland killed it! Just killed it! The Australian born Croatian was amazing. Dobar Dan became a mother and is back to making music. She said her baby only sleeps listening to techno; got to love this kid. She debuted her new infectious single “Fight or Flight.” It should be released officially in the next few weeks, definitely check it out.
Zedd mid set
Zedd
Zedd is and has always been energy incarnate. The joy he exudes during his set is just infectious. His singles are heavy, commercial, and feels like karaoke.
Gryffin plays guitar
Gryffin
Our Editor/Director of all things awesome (actual title), turned me onto Gryffin sometime ago. I didn’t hear of him, had a preconceived notion of who he was and didn’t want to like him. I’m happy to say everything I thought was 100% wrong! Gryffin was awesome! I realized what was missing in my life during his set. I miss having my heartbeat change based on the music played. This changed my perspective, and I was happy for it.
Music feeds the soul. Electric Zoo fed mine.
