Within New York’s Five Boros, there are so many local craft breweries. Being a Long Island girl I am familiar with all the Long Island breweries but this event was a great way to discover great craft beers from the surrounding boros.
The rooftop at Studio Square in Astoria’s provided a great location for an indoor/outdoor event. There were no long lines, not overcrowded, just a great laid back place to listen to live music, drink great beers, and enjoy food samples. All craft beer enthusiasts received a nice 2oz tasting glass and stainless steel flat bottle opener at the event.
One of the bands that played during the festival was Lions on the Moon. I was impressed by these young bandmates ranging from 12-15 years old. They played an original blend of rock, pop, funk and blues that wowed the crowd.
My top three beers from the event
1) Greenpoint When Life Hands You, a sour kettle beer with a citrus hops and lemongrass, perfect for summer
2) Kneedeep Dark Horse is chocolaty, rich, and decadent.
3) Riverhorse Chocolate Porter and Triple Horse both beer were easy to drink and flavorful.
