Girls, gays and grannies gathered at the 99-seat DR2 Theatre in Union Square for That Golden Girls Show, a show that parodies classic Golden Girls moments with puppets. Four puppeteers dressed all in black and held the puppets of the four iconic Golden Girl characters Blanche, Rose, Sofia and Dorothy. The puppeteers were expressive and even embodied Sofia’s walk and Blanche’s southern charm. However, the character of Stan, Dorothy’s ex husband. was played by an actor not a puppet. Nevertheless, the show delivered the best zingers from the Golden Girls series in a fresh new way. Definitely plan a holiday outing with your girlfriends, grab a piece of cheesecake at Eileen’s Special Cheesecake and catch this show before it ends on December 31st.
