“What inspired you to label your brand Snowman? Let me guess! Because it’s …. outerwear?”
In the midst of New York Fashion Week, the branding experts behind Snowman New York looked me straight in the eye, smiling with stylish genius:
“Because nobody else in New York had been doing it.”
Snowman New York feminine outerwear is the brainchild brought to the city by a talented union , consisting of a communications major and a graphic designer – both of whom are branding experts. Through an intense understanding of what wearers in New York City need for both utility and fashion, Snowman’s circular, white-on-black label is now ubiquitous with extreme style in cool-weather couture.
The label’s newly-released ACTION collection for Spring 2015 consists of idealistic trench coats in navy, plum, burnished coral and silver-grey nylon. Models with retro hair and red lips preened for the cameras in the neoclassic trenches, whose foundation stems from 1950’s shapes and design. Each trench silhouetted the body with a certain flow – much like a cocktail dress, except these pieces are not at all meant to wear once and store away. Fine couture stitches fuse with utilitarian warmth for Snowman’s Electric Split G, a blazer-style down jacket in shimmery taupe that is perfect for multiclimate traveling. Mandarin collar Resin Mint L – a perfect compliment for woven tights and a hip-slung pencil skirt. Meanwhile, the fur-covered Teddy has similar animal instincts for extremely cold weather.
At last week’s NYFW affair, I rushed up to the designers with one of the corset-style parkas from collection 42. Aesthetically liberating, flexible leather host and fluffy down that pay homage to NYC landmarks, including 43nd street, that have experienced reinvention over the past decade. Snowman has even created a limited edition pre-order Trooper down jacket (part of the 42 collection) whose sale help benefit the LIVESTRONG foundation.
Snowman’s coveted, solid black outwear is adored by celebrities (including several Real Housewives and Dancing with the Stars Anna Demidova), editors, doctors, students and the everyday fashionista – – all of whom revel in the timelessness of every piece. The days of trotting through Gramercy in a truly hideous rain slicker are done! Great style a promise this already-cult favorite brand takes literally: Becoming the designer outerwear no woman is willing to be seen in pubic without.
Details of each collection by Snowman New York, from weather-ready nylon to intricate enough to please the fashionista’s absolute strongest craving for exotic stitching and hot color palettes. Snowman designs are much larger, yet lighter, than life.
