Taste the East End, which took place at the Long Island Aquarium on June 12, was a great event to savor beers from Long Island breweries while becoming one with nature. Here are my top picks…
The Brewers Collective, located in Bay Shore, poured their Shanty Town Spruce Juice, an American pale ale is 5.5% abv and is made with locally grown spruce tips harvested by hand. This unique beer was floral and fragrant like rosemary, definitely a must try.
Moustache Brewing Co. from Riverhead poured cans of their Beyond the Shore, a goose style beer brewed with sea salt & coriander. Proceeds from this beer directly support CCE Marine Program’s seagrass habitat restoration initiatives.
Long Ireland Brewing Co., also located in Riverhead, poured their Summer Ale on tap. The Summer Ale is an easy to drink golden ale brewed with Pacific Northwest Hops and lemon.
Twin Fork Beer Co., based in Calverton, poured their Legato Stout, which is brewed with 6 different types of malts and hints of dark chocolate, mocha and coffee. This beer has a nice smoky flavor and pairs great with BBQ or a burger.
Lithology Brewing, based in Farmingdale, had their Watermelon Blonde ale poured by Brewology295. This beer is fruity and refreshing, perfect for warm summer nights.
