During this forced downtime time, my imagination has been running rampant. I have been thinking of travel more and more. I decided to list the places I want to visit. This is effectively my bucket list. Resort areas aren’t included because after you’ve seen one great beach (Turks and Caicos) all else fails in comparison.
Istanbul
10. Istanbul, Turkey
Turkey has always been a place that fascinates me. The Bosphorus Strait separates Europe from Asia. It is the crossroads of the world. I love coffee culture. Since young I’ve considered myself to live a café life. Life is about strong coffee, good conversation and great friends.
Buenos Aires
9. Buenos Aires, Argentina.
South America looks interesting. Brazil comes off as too busy. Argentina looks just right. Soccer, steaks and wine, yeah I’m in.
Lagos
8. Lagos, Nigeria
Lago is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. If visiting today it will be different by tomorrow. Part of the reason I want to go is food. I’ve had the American version of Fufu (crushed cassava and plantain), I can only imagine what its like from the place of origin. Jollof rice is amazing!
Mexico City, Dia De Muertos
7. Mexico City
Two words. Bull Fighting! Yes I disagree with the idea of it but do want to see it. Anomalies happen. I also want to experience Dia de Muertos.
Havana
6. Havana, Cuba
Ok tobacco is big here but not the reason I want to go. This is the a living city museum. I hope by the time I get there Cuba is not inundated with Starbucks or McDonalds. I want to experience it at least once. Oh yeah, coffee culture.
St Petersburg
5. St. Petersburg, Russia
Growing up Russia has always the enemy. The Olympics and James Bond movies were so much more fun with a Russian Enemy. I want to see how the other side lives.
Dresden
4. Dresden, Germany
Similar to Russia, East Germans were enemies. Dresden looks like a a livable, social city.
Versaille
3. Versaille, France
Cafes, baguettes, museums, lights, beautiful people must I say more
Hong Kong
2. Hong Kong
I love the idea of getting lost in crowds. Thats why I adore New York. Hong Kong mixes eastern and western cultures like no other place.
Honorable mention Madrid, Split, London, Patagonia, Bulgaria
Belgrade, Cafe ?
Belgrade, Serbia
I know it’s a weird one. I’ve been here but was really young. I don’t remember it. I have family in Serbia and Belgrade is Serbia’s capital. The city is over 7,000 years old! Coffee culture is huge here. Cafe ? Is nearly 200 years old! It opened 50 something years after the Unites States!
Travel is amazing. The beautiful thing about travel is you return home with “new eyes.” You notice things that you may not have before. We will be traveling soon!
