As a girl growing up in the 90s, it was only natural to spend a vast amount of time singing and dancing to the popular girl group we all know as the Spice Girls. Among the five talented girls, my favorite was the always fashionable Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham. As a fellow fashionista, Victoria’s fabulous penchant for style always what set her apart from the others. It was only natural for the posh one to hang up her microphone for good, trading in for her own line of clothing for a role as the British-American fashion icon of this century. Seven years after the debut of her first denim line for Saks Fifth Avenue, VB and husband David Beckham graciously retain the company of pals such as Vogue editor Anna Wintour, whose fervent backing of the brand helped make Victoria Beckham collections a very admirable success.

Known for ladylike designs that exude effortless confidence as well clever use of neutral color, bold stripes and pink floral print, Victoria Beckham has moved past her previous collections based solely upon fitted dresses. Her Spring 2015 collection shown this past Sunday, September 9 during New York Fashion Week, the clothing took on a notable appearance of military undertones. Many looks included colored belts edged through the coats and jackets, along with straps and decorative pockets. There were mid-calf skirts that did not hug the body too closely; oversize sweaters laced up the front and down the sides. Victoria also took this time to debut the collection’s very first shoe line, consisting of two low-heeled slip ons: Neutral leopard print and a pointy white leather pair garnished with hot pink roses. The footwear is a deeply stylish change for a woman who once claimed she did not know how to walk in flats. Through all of her NYC success, Victoria hardly has forgotten about London’s wildly imaginative fashion scene: Beckham’s first-ever store is popping up on Dover Street later this month.
