Ultimate American Music Awards Moments in Review

    1
By Troy Patterson on November 26, 2014 Entertainment, Recent Events

The biggest stars in all genres of music (along with this year’s wonders) came together and are congratulated for their talent and contribution to this year’s hit singles, albums at the 42nd Annual American Music Awards.  This year was another event-filled year in music and we saw newbies become mega stars like Iggy Azalea move past the weekly TMZ headlines and celebrate multi-platinum status.

Artists of the Year: Teen idols One Direction took three awards at the American Music Awards on Nov 23, 2014

One thing besides the actual awards I want to see are the performers on stage. Veterans such as Mary J. Blige, Fergie and Wyclef Jean always bring high energy to the crowd.  Selena Gomez  gave a particularly emotional performance  of “The Heart Wants What It Wants”.

Pitbull Catches A Bit of Slack for Latino Jokes

I always look forward to the unscripted, unpredictable moments on these shows.  Hosting for the second year in a row, Latino powerhouse Pitbull might have caught some heat for immigration jokes – but included this onstage statement:

“Now, you all know I’m Cuban, but remember America, not all Latinos are Mexican,” Pitbull said. “We got everybody here tonight – black, white, pink, purple, orange, Asian, Latino – and guess what, President Obama said we can all stay. God Bless America.”

This time, it was without interruption.

The American Music Awards introduced some new segments to this year’s show: 5SOS Emojis, Fan Art, and the ability to vote for your favorite artists via Twitter.  Did the show disappoint, appear so-so or did you love it?!  Comment below.. let us know.

I was born in Long Branch New Jersey. During childhood I wanted to become a chef such as Bobby Flay or Martin Yen. I graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2003 with the expectation of making a career into the foodservice industry. The dream slowly faded away after years of lusterless opportunities that only lead to more experience, but career growth. In 2007 I was hired in the telecommunications industry as a customer service representative. During these last few years the passion for writing grew as I had to learn to express myself in distinct ways. Today I am in pursuit in of a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism this year and I have a blog that has been running for a year. Also my articles have been published in two separate entertainment magazines with an established fan base. In addition to that LIB Magazine appointed their “Video of the Day,” which I search viral content that is SEO friendly. This is in addition to writing for the hip hop section of the magazine where I talk about issues within the hip hop community. I also talk about topics touch directly within the hip hop community in Long Island. I also write on my own blog about social issues and news stories that seems too unbelievable to be true.
