Nobody throws an event like Even Flow Bar and Grill of Long Island. An Even Flow event consists of the best wings you’ve ever had, fantastic craft beers and great music. Wings, brews and tunes- is it any surprise we think these guys do it right?!
LIB Magazine is dubbing the month of August Long Island Wing Month! Even Flow is at the heart of that decision. Owner Danny Wiseman, who was dubbed a “wing lord” by BestWingsLI.com) hosted Even Flow’s Shipping Up to Buffalo event last Saturday. In case you missed the past weekend’s awesomeness, Mr. Wiseman will also host the Second Annual Wing Fest at The Nutty Irishman in Bayshore on August 24 and will also be representing Long Island in Buffalo for Nationals. The Best Wings on Long Island will become the best wings in New York by month’s end!

At Shipping Up to Buffalo, a $40 entrance fee, we gobbled down as many Even Flow wings as we can eat, all the craft beers from Barrage Brewing and Eclectic Ales we can responsibly enjoy all the while being serenaded by some of Long Island’s best musicians. I have previously given Even Flow wings a glowing review, but that is only because they truly are the best I ever had. Danny Wiseman broke out his Parmesan Garlic wings, both regular and Buffalo style, Asian Soy wings , the “All New Episode” Tropical Thai Chili, the “Dire Descent” Habenero Bourbon BBQ along with a half dozen others. The venue’s wings are crispy, meaty and uniquely flavored. You haven’t eaten a wing if you haven’t been to Even Flow! For me, the addiction continues, and it’s because of Even Flow.
As I sipped a pale ale called Citralization by Barrage, I was focused on Arcane Smile on stage. Kristin, the lead singer of Arcane Smile, has a beautiful voice and it was a nice compliment to the fantastic ale. Citralization has an appealing fruity nose with an emphasis on oranges. It was crisp, just like Arcane’s sound. Arcane Smile is poised for big things. They have a nice, pleasing sound. There is a great market for this sound. I was first introduced to Arcane Smile via Youtube when I heard You walked away. Done live, it’s even better!

After a little Barrage buzz, I decided to kick it up a notch. Eclectic Ales had a different idea. I tried the brewery’s Ghost Pepper IPA. The only thing hotter than the Ghost Pepper IPA this day is Even Flow’s “1 Million Scolville” wing. This was a true treat. Ghost Pepper IPA was nicely enjoyed with Black Mary performing on stage. Black Mary was a freight train of sound. The band’s music is beautifully haunting, moody, raw and emotional. As Anthony Kulynch’s emotionally charged lyrics exposed his soul to me, I was hooked! Don’t get me wrong, this is not some emo rock band, no.. they are hard rock gods who are true to themselves and write music that means something.
My buzz turned into a stupor (thank you Eclectic Ales and Barrage Brewery) as the bearded front man of Year of the Locust took the stage. They are a old school rock band. Outside of a stellar block of three Pearl Jams songs (It is a Pearl Jam bar… pay some respect) Year of the Locust was extraordinary. YOTL played the type of music that I would load onto my Ipod for a road trip. Fast, loud, singer friendly tracks.
Stay tuned for coverage of the Second Annual Wing Festival. Along with Even Flow Bar and Grill, the other vendors are the Nutty Irishman, TJ Finley’s, Changing Times, Lion’s Den, Rudi’s, Prost’s and a dozen others. Limited space is available; if interested reach out to Danny from Even Flow.
