Johnny Donovan Productions has once again brought reality television stars to our backyard. Real Housewives of New Jersey starlets Teresa Giudice and Dina Manzo were welcomed to Liquid Mondays, Long Island’s newest break into weeknight lounge parties at the typically classic Woodbury Country Club. It was definitely a night everyone will remember!
Dina Manzo is a Brooklyn born, Jersey-raised personality who first appeared in RHONJ cast for Seasons 1 and 2. The blonde housewife returned for to the show for Season 6 after a lengthy hiatus. Dina is also the founder of Project Ladybug, a 501c charity dedicated to helping children with cancer. Dramatic brunette Giudice, who has starred on the show for all of its six seasons, is probably the most recognized member of the Bravo network hit.
I have been to dozens of weddings at Woodbury Country Club, but never seen it like this before! Hundreds of people packed the 17 acre scene, dancing Monday night away in elegance. Woodbury staff retired the white glove service we are all accustomed to for the night, which further transformed the space into something we would expect to see in Manhattan. In short, it was fabulously done. Also at Liquid Monday, we met a pair of excitable up and coming EDM DJs called Radio Smash. For a pair of kids in their early 20s, they have a sound reminiscent of the old Sound Factory NYC days. Based on what I heard on Radio Smash’s Soundcloud playlist, they believe in the East Coast Sound. Their tracks are designed to be bass driven and aimed at the center of the dance floor: Very much the sound New York’s house underground scene was built on. Given enough exposure, Radio Smash may dethrone the Dutch as Kings of EDM.
Reality TV has brought people’s personal lives into our homes. The drama most of us deal with every day is being documented episode to episode on HWONJ. Whether or not you believe the ladies’ stresses are natural, or a tad overdone, the “Jersey strong” series brought in a reported 2.8 milion viewers in a single Sunday night. Real Housewives explores the powder keg that is the loud, in-your-business families who, in this case, are of Italian descent. If you take Real Housewives at face value and solely for entertainment… the show works.
If you missed this event, next week’s installment of Liquid Mondays features a Luau theme. It is bound to be another night worth seeing!
