Memorial Day- the unofficial start of the summer has come and gone. For a lot of us Memorial Day means BBQs, the kick off of another season in the Hamptons, and the Jones Beach Air Show.

The Jones Beach Air Show is now in it’s 13th year and it gets bigger and bigger. This weekend the Air Show smashed previous records in terms of attendance. State officials report 450,000 people came to Jones Beach to witness the precision flying that is the staple of this event. Although traffic and getting to the event is confusing, the eye-catching aerial stunts can be seen while sitting in traffic.

Some of the most talented pilots from around the world come to Jones Beach. There was a plethora of variety, as planes performed incredible feats alone, as well as tandem groups. The headliners were the US Navy’s Blue Angels; the precision these pilots have to fly so close to one another is remarkable. The F-35 Lightening 2, The Stealth Fighters, The Golden Knights, The Geico Skytypers and more were also featured.

Memorial Day is intended to remember the people who dies while serving in our country’s Armed Forces. There is no better way to celebrate our fallen heroes than showcasing our military’s commitment to excellence.

May 28 and 29 Long Island got its official kick off to the summer with a spectacular performance from everyone who participated.
