My Four Top Music Video Parodies

    0
By Troy Patterson on October 2, 2014 Around the Web, Entertainment

Music is more than just a single video.  These days, it’s the parody that is known to go viral within hours of being released – garnishing as many hits as the artists they’re made after.  LIB Entertainment expert Troy sounds off on his favorite funny, most shocking video parodies dropped in the past few months.

When a song becomes a hit, it floods the airwaves, radios, tv screens, mobile phones and computer monitors everywhere. When a video and a song gets a big buzz, it creates a natural dialogue. It is not uncommon for a lesser-known artist to produce fast, cheap imitations aka “music knock offs” in attempts to steal some of the thunder of the originals.

However, more and more artists have come along to bring a brand new effort to the table – one which reflects their interpretation of the actual song. Let’s face it: Imitation can be the best form of flattery, and the music video parodies below use humor that, in my opinion, are just as good as the videos from which they were taken.

    1. Nicki Minaj “Anaconda” parody  In this comedic rendition of the hit song from the big butt diva, the female mc makes fun of Nicki’s authentic lady parts.  The artist goes so far as to accuse Miss Minaj’s enhanced curves as being “artificial” with a few little anecdotes mixed in.

2.Iggy Azalea “Fancy” parody by Weird Al

There is no question Weird Al Yankovic is a comedy parody king. His past videos portraying Michael Jackson, Madonna and Nirvana that are without a doubt, comedic genius. In this video he takes Iggy’s hit song Fancy and puts a handyman’s spin it as only Weird Al can do.

    3. Drake “Hold On, We’re Going Home” parody  i found this “Big Girl and You Know It” parody by random chance.  Drake’s mannerisms are flawlessly captured in this video.

4.Usher “Good Kisser” parody “Bad Kisser”  If you’re a fan of Jay Pharoah from SNL, you will love this video as much as I did. I would play this song for anyone you think needs a hint about his – or her – breath stinking.

    To

me, a great music video parody captures the original artists’ concepts and likeness of the video without trying to make an exact copy. It’s the subtle differences that make it work.  An extra long stare, an off-kilter movement or just a different cadence in the parodies voice makes it humorous.  What is your favorite music video parody?  Comment below!

I was born in Long Branch New Jersey. During childhood I wanted to become a chef such as Bobby Flay or Martin Yen. I graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2003 with the expectation of making a career into the foodservice industry. The dream slowly faded away after years of lusterless opportunities that only lead to more experience, but career growth. In 2007 I was hired in the telecommunications industry as a customer service representative. During these last few years the passion for writing grew as I had to learn to express myself in distinct ways. Today I am in pursuit in of a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism this year and I have a blog that has been running for a year. Also my articles have been published in two separate entertainment magazines with an established fan base. In addition to that LIB Magazine appointed their “Video of the Day,” which I search viral content that is SEO friendly. This is in addition to writing for the hip hop section of the magazine where I talk about issues within the hip hop community. I also talk about topics touch directly within the hip hop community in Long Island. I also write on my own blog about social issues and news stories that seems too unbelievable to be true.
