VIDEOS Joan Rivers Best Moments in Hip Hop

By Troy Patterson on September 8, 2014 Entertainment, Featured Content, LIB TV

One of the greatest comedians to ever touch the mic passed away this week and we’re shaking our heads in disbelief. Joan Rivers wasn’t only funny, but she was really funny.  She was the most quick witted, fearless female comedians I ever heard, pioneering a movement for comic starlets like Sarah Silverman, Whitney Cummings, Amy Schumer, Tina Fey and many others known to leave the crowd in tears and receive standing ovations.  Ms. Rivers also inspired the hip hop generation.  Below are a few moments in time now where her cut you off at the kneecaps style of comedy was just right for the job.

    1. Sk Energy Drink Commercial

50 Cent, who has a great sense of humor couldn’t have picked a better comedy legend to entice people into getting his Street King energy drink.

    2. Joan Rivers and Ray J’s Sex Tape

This crazy reenactment was obviously the infamous sex tape that gave Kim K. her rise into mainstream popularity. It was moments like this that made Joan cross all boundaries (and color lines), inspiring us all to laugh at ourselves.

    3.  Big Sean Interview for E! Fashion Police VMA Edition

Joan was more than just funny; she was a dedicated fashionista and prominent style host on E! Networks Fashion Police. In this interview Good Music’s own Big Sean shares his views on fashion with the group.

Joan Rivers also featured hip hop stars like Ciara, Common, Nicki Minaj, Qestlove, Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose on the Hollywood-based show. It’s clear that not only was Joan an inspiration in Hollywood, but she saw the truth in everybody and gave her brash and sometimes offensive sense of humor (which she labeled as “strictly business”) to just anyone from a rapper to Michelle Obama. That’s what made her so great: We all were in on the joke.

“I’ve had so much plastic surgery, when I die they will donate my body to tupperware.” –Joan Rivers.
What’s your favorite Joan Rivers joke?

I was born in Long Branch New Jersey. During childhood I wanted to become a chef such as Bobby Flay or Martin Yen. I graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2003 with the expectation of making a career into the foodservice industry. The dream slowly faded away after years of lusterless opportunities that only lead to more experience, but career growth. In 2007 I was hired in the telecommunications industry as a customer service representative. During these last few years the passion for writing grew as I had to learn to express myself in distinct ways. Today I am in pursuit in of a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism this year and I have a blog that has been running for a year. Also my articles have been published in two separate entertainment magazines with an established fan base. In addition to that LIB Magazine appointed their “Video of the Day,” which I search viral content that is SEO friendly. This is in addition to writing for the hip hop section of the magazine where I talk about issues within the hip hop community. I also talk about topics touch directly within the hip hop community in Long Island. I also write on my own blog about social issues and news stories that seems too unbelievable to be true.
