Scarlett Johansson embodies badass in her role as Lucy.  Directed by Luc Besson, Lucy is a fast paced action thriller that shares a deeper message into what the human mind is and all that it can become.  Professor Norman (Morgan Freeman) delivers a lecture in Paris to a room full of intellectuals about his hypothesis on the capabilities of a human if more than 10% of said human’s brain is used.  As Professor Norman explains his analysis in depth, the scences jump back to Lucy performing the superhuman abilities he has described.

Lucy is an American woman who lives in Taipei.  She is aggressively tricked into delivering an unknown suitcase to Mr. Jang (played by actor Min-sik Choi),  a bloodthirsty Tokyo crime boss.  We later find out the suitcase contained a blue crystallized synthetic version of CPH4, a substance that only pregnant woman produce naturally to help develop their fetus.  As a new drug on the market, Mr. Jang uses Lucy as a drug mule and surgically inserts CPH4 into her intestines. However, before making it to her destination the contents burst in her stomach — setting off a rapid change in the previously locked parts of her brain.

Holding a surgeon at gunpoint to remove the burst CPH4, Lucy realizes she can feel no pain.  She calls her mother and tearfully expresses her love and fondest memory of moments taken place when she was just a baby.  Throughout the movie, Lucy is moving from 20% of her brain
capabilities to an end functionality of 100%.  Such a change drives her to assasinate Mr. Jang and his crime partners.  All the while seeking help from Professor Norman as to what she should do with all of her intelligence and information. Professor Norman suggests one thing:

    “Share it “.

The random visuals of wildlife and historical landmarks coincide with the actions taking place in Lucy’s journey.  As Lucy races to Paris to meet with Professor Norman she is still being persuaded by Mr. Jang and his crew. Lucy becomes something much more than human. Director Besson creatively shows that with epic visuals that include eye-popping action through nature and the worlds most popular destinations.  Lucy also included stellar performances from a well-picked cast.
