New talent needs encouragement. Even the greatest potentials need to be developed and nurtured before passing on to the public eye. New talent is, figuratively speaking, the life blood running through any industry; perhaps even more to the world of music. In case you haven’t heard, the latest music rage is EDM (Electronic Dance Music). Personally speaking, my Ipod has been loaded with house, dupstep, trance, trip-hop, EBM (Electronic Body Music) and most other forms of electronica sets for as long as I can remember.

New Jersey-based Radio Smash are two smashing newcomers to the EDM scene. In a music world dominated by soft, transitional, melodic, catchy hooks with zero substance as of late, Radio Smash is a pleasure to the ears of electronica fans. Music duo AJ DeMarco and vocalist Sal Valo brought the quintessential New York underground house style that has been missing in current dance music. Radio Smash are the hard-hitting, bass intensive, hit the middle of the dance floor as hard as you can type of musicians. The group is a refreshing change from what even the biggest nightlife scenes have gotten used to in recent years. Electronic music has undergone a million generic terms: Techno, house, electronica, EDM all tend to speak a universal language of dance music. Said music has transitioned itself from the hard baseline of Chicago-based Joey Beltram, the tech intensive Quadrophonia to the transitional styling of Miami’s Robbie Rivera or the slick sounds emanating from Afrojack.
The “New Age” of techno/dance/electronica music is good, but a little boring. Everyone wants to be to slick and seamless, but DJs tend to forget what counts: Amazing bass lines, heavy drops keep from making most dance tracks memorable hits. Radio Smash is bringing back that change your heartbeat type of music that makes up an EDM fan’s entire night and morning.
You can see Radio Smash along with other DJs like Snake and Flux Pavilion this weekend at Electric Adventure in Seaside Heights, another blockbuster production by music and reality TV master Johnny Donovan of J Donovan Productions. Tickets might still be available at ElectricAdventure.com.
