The Strain Episode 2: The Box

By Troy Patterson on July 30, 2014 Entertainment

The second episode of FX’s newest hit TV series The Strain gave us a little more back story into the character’s lives and introduced the viewers to Vasiliy Fet, played by actor Kevin Duran.  Mr. Fet is a little bit on the arrogant side, but only because he takes his job as an exterminator for the NYC Bureau of Pest Control very seriously. We also see that Augustin ‘Gus’ Elizalde (played by Miguel Gomez) has dropped off “the box” as promised into Manhattan before sunrise.  He was scared off and leaves the van behind.  Perhaps the most influential scene was a dialogue between Abraham Setrakian and Thomas Eichherst. The two have history that we find out also involves the heart in the jar that was once Abraham’s girlfriend or wife that turned into one of the undead vampires. Thomas also mentions he gave Abraham his number, 8230385, which may serve as further insight for future episodes.

Another telling moment in this episode is the relationship between Ephriam Goodweather and Nora Martinez. They shared a kiss, which confirmed the suspicion of sexual tension in the air. Ephriam needed a pick me up before his mood would be taken down by finding his soon to be ex-wife Kelly Goodweather is moving forward with taken Ephriam’s old office space and changing it into his son’s new game room. To make matters worse, Kelly’s new boyfriend is helping with the reconstruction.

Before the show gets a little too um, emotional, we find the four survivors from the plane crash in episode one have been released and a cover up story has already taken over the headlines. Without any research to confirm what happened,  CDC declared a methane leak caused the accident.

Gabriel Bolivar, pictured above,  is in the middle of a four-way encounter when he first realizes his taste for blood.  Gabriel attacked one of his bedtime playmates, licking the blood splatter off the floor while the rest of the girls run screaming.  It gets weirder, believe it or not, when Ephraim finds out that all of the dead bodies have disappeared from the morgue.  The show gives one last scare as the little girl from the plane flight presumed to be dead is seen in the bathtub with a blank stare while her eyes do that creepy flash before we see she is also a full vampire as she tears into her father’s jugular leaving him bleeding out into the tub. We still don’t know what is going happen to the rest of the four survivors and what the Elderitch Palmer wants from the monster in the coffin.

I was born in Long Branch New Jersey. During childhood I wanted to become a chef such as Bobby Flay or Martin Yen. I graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2003 with the expectation of making a career into the foodservice industry. The dream slowly faded away after years of lusterless opportunities that only lead to more experience, but career growth. In 2007 I was hired in the telecommunications industry as a customer service representative. During these last few years the passion for writing grew as I had to learn to express myself in distinct ways. Today I am in pursuit in of a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism this year and I have a blog that has been running for a year. Also my articles have been published in two separate entertainment magazines with an established fan base. In addition to that LIB Magazine appointed their “Video of the Day,” which I search viral content that is SEO friendly. This is in addition to writing for the hip hop section of the magazine where I talk about issues within the hip hop community. I also talk about topics touch directly within the hip hop community in Long Island. I also write on my own blog about social issues and news stories that seems too unbelievable to be true.
