Hannibal Buress, cohost of The Eric Andre Show on Adult Swim and cast member on Broad City on Comedy Central, packed The Space in Westbury for two back-to-back standup performances.
Hannibal entered the stage and instructed his fans to put their cell phones away after he was backlashed in the media for his Bill Cosby rape segment that was uploaded by a fan to YouTube. However, here are 5 great one-liners from his show!
1) “I want to jizz on my hand and go to a palm reader and say what is this about? What do you see in my future.”
2) Why is he humming? Did he eat some good mac and cheese?” (about the beginning of Country Grammar by Nelly)
3) “If your against steroids your against families” (about steroids in baseball)
4) “Hookers for a sense of nurture” (the importance of nieces and nephews)
5) First eight beats of Iggy Azalea’s Fancy (how you would tell someone they are stupid)
Opening act was Brooklyn-based comic Simeon Goodson. His 15 minute act consisted of Williamsburg having the best muffins in the city, his wife asking him to eat the “pregnant cookie,” and how he could never boycott Nike because he would have nothing to wear on his feet. Goodson was mildly funny until he insulted cops, which could have been viewed at distasteful around this time.
Hannibal also entered the stage telling all his fans to put their cell phones away and not tape his performance, also noting he is Atheist and if he met God, “God would respect my skepticism”.
Buress would much rather muse about rap lyrics, which he did successfully, ending his show, accompanied by DJ Tony Trimm and, in a delightfully unexpected moment, a tutu-clad solo ballerina, doing his own “Gibberish Rap.”
