Ghostface Killah and Raekwon, two New York rap legends, from Staten Island came to The Paramount in Huntington to a packed out show.
This show was the 20th Anniversary for the historic “Only Built for Cuban Linx” Album. Only Built for Cuban Links marked Raekwon’s first solo album release, which guest starred Ghostface Killah on the songs. Dillon Cooper opened up the concert performing a quick paced and energetic set. Cooper had the crowd ready as DJ Mister Cee came out to keep the energy going.
Mister Cee made it clear he was not playing any rachet rap that’s on the radio rather the 90’s era of hiphop. The crowd was rowdy chanting “Wu Tang” for the Ghostface Killah and Raekwon to come out. Raekwon came out as soon as “Striving For Protection” started and the Huntington crowd went crazy. For the remainder of the night Ghostface Killah joined Raekwon on stage and performed nearly every song on the classic Album. The duo didn’t miss a beat a performed like true veterans that they are.
It’s great to see a group from the golden age of hip hop still being able to rock the crowd the way that Ghostface and Raekwon did.
