I Heart Nick Carter Episode One Review

Nick Carter, the last eligible bachelor from the Backstreet Boys is getting married…sort of. In the first episode of I Heart Nick Carter, we meet Lauren Kitt, a successful professional woman who traded in her career life to be with Nick full-time while he is on tour.  Despite Lauren’s obvious dedication, Nick seems to be on the fence about a lot of things involving  marriage. The couple had been engaged for over one year, but Nick has not set a date to walk down the aisle. We learn Nick has some anxieties about getting married – external forces such as his fans and not “letting them down” (yes, we’re serious) by getting married continues to hold him back.

Nick’s management seems to be Lauren’s ultimate frenemy in this show. Both sides want Nick, but Nick has been subjugated by a life of tours, guest appearances, magazine photo shoots, rehearsals, recording, and when all is done, the pop singer goes to party with beautiful women who entice him to go back into his playboy lifestyle. When Nick finally sets a date for the wedding, which was originally March 1, The Management had the final say until Lauren proposed a new date which they all agreed upon of April 12, 2015.

It seems Nick’s lack of command in his own wedding plans and Lauren’s less than enthusiastic appreciation for Nick’s celebrity lifestyle and fans may be an issue that if not dealt with, might easily lead to trouble down the road. One concern that is not mentioned in the show, which I hope was at least discussed is the curse of reality tv and relationships. It’s no secret that loving couples and reality tv usually don’t fair well together. Do you remember Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey or how about Kate and Jon Gosselin, or even Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker?

I just hope this one is an exception because I really do like this couple.

In the preview for the upcoming episodes, it does look like a rough ride ahead for Nick and Lauren.  Both will have to grow a stronger bond with each other or the strings will be tethered together loosely only to be hanging onto each other with no real commitment. If you’re looking to root for a couple that has a chance to make it, this may be the one to cheer for.

I was born in Long Branch New Jersey. During childhood I wanted to become a chef such as Bobby Flay or Martin Yen. I graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 2003 with the expectation of making a career into the foodservice industry. The dream slowly faded away after years of lusterless opportunities that only lead to more experience, but career growth. In 2007 I was hired in the telecommunications industry as a customer service representative. During these last few years the passion for writing grew as I had to learn to express myself in distinct ways. Today I am in pursuit in of a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism this year and I have a blog that has been running for a year. Also my articles have been published in two separate entertainment magazines with an established fan base. In addition to that LIB Magazine appointed their “Video of the Day,” which I search viral content that is SEO friendly. This is in addition to writing for the hip hop section of the magazine where I talk about issues within the hip hop community. I also talk about topics touch directly within the hip hop community in Long Island. I also write on my own blog about social issues and news stories that seems too unbelievable to be true.
