What’s Brewing at The New York Coffee Festival 2019

The New York Coffee Festival hosted the hottest beverage brands under one roof at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Coffee, tea, and other crafty creations brewed all weekend long. Here’s some of the hottest trends spotted at The New York Coffee Festival.

    Coffee & Tea Combos

Local Long Island favorite, Sail Away Coffee, showcased their newest creation, a Pumpkin Chai Nitro, by combining the best of both worlds, coffee and black tea. The Pumpkin Chai Nitro is filled with fall flavors including cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, black pepper and natural pumpkin flavoring. This is the perfect dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan alternative for your pumpkin spice latte.

    Canned Coffee Drinks

Dr Smood’s cold-pressed coffee creates a flavorable brew with absolutely zero bitterness. This coffee is organic, seasonally sourced, roasted in-house, and precision brewed by award-winning roaster Andrew Oberholzer. Smood’s creamy body has notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, and ripe cherry, the perfect way to start the day.

Elemental Beverage Co’s slogan is rethinking the craft of cold because they use a snapchiller to take the heat out of their beverages rapidly, cooling the beverage uniformly without chemicals, additives or ice. Try the Single-Origin Sampler for a line of unique coffees from around the world.

    Dairy-Free Delights

Silk Oat-Yea, is a vegan and dairy-free delight. Several beverages were made with oatmilk, including a Black & White Cold-Brew, reminiscent of your favorite bakery cookie. Chameleon Cold-Brew also sampled their Organic Oat Milk blended with organic cold-brew coffee.

    Crafty Teas

The popularity of craft tea is rising. People are upholding tea to the same high standards as craft coffee. Tea enthusiasts are looking for distinct and artful blends of tea. The Bushwick Tea Company’s Ginger Turmeric (a herbal caffeine free tea) and Brooklyn Breakfast (a highly caffeinated black tea) are their hottest sellers. Spirit Tea sells a unique selection of loose leaf teas and believes tea time should be all about being mindful and present in the moment. Art of Tea is handcrafted in Los Angeles and has a tea of the month club. Members get different teas each month, giving them the opportunity to discover new favorites. This is a great holiday gift for tea lovers. Rishi Organic Tea makes a Spicy Marsala Chai, an organic chai tea concentrate with bold black tea and cayenne chili, ginger root and chai spices, the perfect warm and spicy seasonal drink.

    Coffee & Craft Beer Collaborations

Several craft breweries are using local coffee to brew stouts, porters, as well as other styles of beer. Mainstream marvel, Coney Island Brewing Co. uses coffee from Greenpoint’s own Cafe Grumpy to make their Freaktoberfest pumpkin beer.

    Coffee+ CBD

Coffee plus CBD is considered the new socially acceptable wake and bake. CBD reduces anxiety, improves sleep and eases aches and pains. Caliper CBD dissolves in hot and cold beverages and can also be added to everyday recipes. Caliper CBD is non-GMO, sugar-free, gluten-free, and made with no animal products.

    Alcohol-Infused Cold Brew

BOMANI Cold Buzz is an artisan cold brew coffee in a can, infused with low-calorie, gluten-free alcohol. BOMANI is figure-friendly with only 110 calories, zero carbs, and 0 grams of sugar. This beverage is great for boozy-brunch, if you’re looking for coffee with a kick.

    Craft Sodas

One of the biggest beverage trends are drinks without booze. Enjoy a non-alcoholic drink or use flavorful spice-based tea concentrates and sodas from Donna to create your next cocktail.

    No-Sugar Sweeteners

Swoon is a simple syrup made with zero sugar, it gets its sweetness naturally from monk fruit. This is the perfect sugar or artificial sweetener replacement for coffee, tea, lemonade, and cocktails.
