In case you haven’t noticed, there is something special happening in Bushwick, Brooklyn. I.M.A.G.E. Art Gallery promises to be one of the most inspirational foundations for artists in New York City, Long Island and worldwide.
Art is life. It can inspire, amuse and confound all in the same stroke. Art is nourishment- it feeds our souls. The gallery opened last month, when LIB first hung out with NYC-based artist Carlos Con Long and his troupe at I.M.A.G.E. Art Gallery located at 1501 Broadway in Bushwick.

It has been two short years in New York, the Maryland-born Carlos is now able to hold I.M.A.G.E. alongside his accomplishments as a noted painter, fashion designer and entrepreneur. The gallery features extremely talented, locally-bred artists Kahiem Archer (Instagram @thasobrekid), Mathematics Patterson (@Mighty_Math) and David Lyman (like David’s Facebook page). All exhibitors brought their “A game” to the walls of the boutique-style art gallery. Owner Carlos and “his people”, consisting of talented groups of friends based out darn near everywhere from NY to D.C.. have successfully installed pull-down artist backgrounds and projector screens which literally descend from the ceiling and are used by clients and artists for photoshoots and videos. The shining gallery floors are a far cry from the decrypt building Con Long and his artists have completely transformed into a venue that is nothing short of amazing.

An artist that goes by Dreams of Being showed two separate pieces done with spray paint on canvas. Both were female faces, done with crazy detail. Like all good art, these pieces moved me. I especially enjoyed the simplistic look of the models depicted, yet understanding the maddening complexity paint on canvas can be. The color rendering of Kahiem Archer’s Buddha and Bart Simpson abstract were absolutely amazing – two favorites of the staff over at LIB Mag! The expressions and techniques are eternally flawless. In addition, David Lyman discussed his technique with us: Using a hybrid pen and computer post-processing technique to produce his unique vision.

Artists are unique, like fingerprints. From a distance they appear random and similar, up close they are unique and complex. Just like art- everyone’s styles and tastes are related, but still completely different. Jump onto the J train from Manhattan and head over to I.M.A.G.E. Gallery. “You might as well ask an artist to explain his art, or ask a poet to explain his poem. It defeats the purpose. The meaning is only clear thorough the search.” – Rick Riordan “Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.” – Pablo Picasso.
