Congratulations Huntington! Sugar Ray’s next album will include you! Monday night’s performance at Paramount was recorded for Sugar Ray’s next album- a live album. The show kicked off with Eve 6 and Uncle Kracker. Eve 6 was impressive but not as well known with the exception of their hit “Inside Out.” Uncle Kracker was a little bland but overall solid. I guess he’s just not my thing. Better than Ezra killed it! BTE is a little under the cuff. Usually they are not thought of when we think of the boom of ‘90s rock or post grunge era. Makes sense,…

There are hundreds of music festivals open to the public. They promise good times and great music. The best of the best is Electric Zoo. This coming September will be the seventh installment of the best house music festival in the US. I can proudly say I have been to six of the seven Zoos. So what makes Zoo special? Zoo is special for a few reasons. Not only do the biggest names in the industry attend, like Benny Benassi, Armin Van Buuren and David Guetta, but the sexiest house girls on the east coast. I always treated…
Elaborate displays and dwindling crowds were the common chatter this year at the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailer (IPCPR). The IPCPR is the largest and oldest cigar convention in the world. This year IPCPR was held in what is normally one of the US’s best convention city- New Orleans. New Orleans was a bad choice for this event. They have very restrictive smoking laws. One was not able to sample products indoors! Instead they moved all smokers outdoors to the humid, uncomfortable streets surrounding the convention area. The biggest news out of New Orleans was made by…

“Art is literacy of the heart.”- Elliot Eisner The Village of Patchogue is booming. Stroll down Main Street any given Friday and it is abundantly clear. Walk into the Tap Room, the BrickHouse Brewery or the Village Idiot and live local music fills your being. Thirty five miles east of Williamsburg, Brooklyn another artist outpost has been developed, but this one has a Native American name- Patchogue. Patchogue is the convergence of culture. Patchogue is the convergence of culture. Saturday afternoon the Art Space hosted a celebration. Of Colors hosted a exhibition named “Fierce.” The flowers were perfect, (thank you…
Paul McEvoy (1982- 2014) served in the US Army’s 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team “Thunder Platoon.” He was one of the boys that kicked in doors looking for insurgents, protecting everyone else from snipers and what not. Paul passed from a heart virus last November, 2014. Danny Wiseman and the staff of Even Flow Bar and Grill held a benefit for our fallen hero. The Paul McEvoy Wings for Warriors benefit was held June 27th and 28th. Call tech support. It won’t fit The event started with a motorcycle run from Bay Shore to Oak Beach and back. After the…
In a day and age where men don’t know how to act like men, we looked to none other than Hollywood for answers. Enter man’s man Al Pacino, a cinematic icon who has played all types of characters (and very well). Here is LIB’s list of the top ten lessons learned from the timeless Al Pacino.: You never open your mouth until you know what the shot is. Glengarry Glen Ross (1992). Lesson learned. Before offering any advice make sure you know the entire story. Coming into a situation with…
and Sharon Downing The only problem with life is death. Much like a cell phone, there is a planned obsolesces. Also like other electronics we are prone to viruses. Life is a precious, this is the only real thing all of us have, but there are complications. What we do when we are fortunate enough to have the “dash,” is what is important. Even Flow Bar and Grill in Bay Shore threw the Paul McEvoy Memorial Wings For Warriors fund raiser this past weekend. Paul McEvoy (1982- 2014) served in the US Army’s 172nd Stryker…
My “bucket list” always included watching a live soccer game with the fans of Manchester United, Barcelona or Brazil’s national team. I always wanted to connect with different people and have our collective voices matter. I thought that could only happen in places like Europe or South America, not Nassau County. I was surprisingly wrong. The Borough Boys, Five Points and Cross Island Crew (NY Cosmos fan groups) banged their drums, stomped their feet, and yelled their collective lungs out the entire 90 minutes plus extra time and shoot outs in Wednesday’s exciting edition of The East River Derby.…
Last weekend was the Annual Eternal Con at Cradle of Aviation in Garden City. Eternal Con is a pop culture Convention, with heavy emphasis on cosplay. There were enough Storm Troopers, Darth Vaders and Jedis that we felt we were in a universe far, far away. The X-Men were in full parade that, for a moment I thought I was a figment of someone else’s imagination. When your soundings are brightly colored, and comes with a bunch of machinations and catch phrases, your reality came become askew. How does one navigate around Marios from Super Mario Brothers, constantly trying…
