Celebrate Autumn! Nights get longer, there is a chill in the air: Autumn. Football helmets crash together, leaves change, the smell of fresh baked pies in the air, Autumn. We at LIB Magazine decided to celebrate this pretty time of year at Kaufold’s in Ridge, NY. Kaufold’s is a family farm located just east of William Floyd Parkway on Route 25. Fresh air can help decompress, get in touch with nature and just leave the busy pace of life…

Written/Photographed by Lauren Jablonski and John Milovcic Living in somebody’s shadow is never easy.  It is even harder when that shadow was cast by colorful boxing legend Hector “Macho” Camacho.  The boxer’s son, Hector “Machito” Camacho Jr., found a way to honor his father’s memory by releasing Macho Dad to bookshelves today, October 23, 2014. Macho Dad is a children’s book published by Magic Treasure Books. Macho Dad looks at Camacho, Jr’s relationship with his father minus the specter of boxing or sport. It unashamedly refers to the great “Macho” Camacho as his personal hero – much like my father is…

Photography by Michael Horbatiuk Hip Hop Legends Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, Rob Base, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick Perform at NYCB Theatre Westbury Saturday, October 4, 2014 – Old school hip hop can bring on a flood of memories. The scent of coffee brewing or idle chatter as you wake up on a Saturday morning can bring back your entire childhood. A few simple, musical notes brings me back to the early 90’s; a time when I would fall asleep with my finger on the record button of my Panasonic boom box, trying to cut out the…

You have seen and become friends with musicians you admire. You purchase a home, have a beautiful family, cars and all the creature comforts most of us desire. Then it is all taken away with one bite of a tick. Lyme disease is a nasty illness to deal with. It is an imitating disease, meaning it takes the forms of many others, making it hard to detect. Many people who…

The days of going to seedy bars and pounding speed rack alcohol is all but over for me.  Don’t get me wrong; occasionally watching a rerun is fun and all.. but I am more interested in first-run movies. The Village Cigar Headquarters in Patchogue came along at the perfect time for me.  Miguel Baez, owner of VCH, once again brought a piece of Key West to Patchogue Village.  Last Friday they brought vendors from the world renowned Montecristo Cigar Company, a brand named after Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Count of Monte Cristo.  This smokable work of art is the embodiment…
