Photography by Linda Struffolino On December 14, 2014, the celebrated Amphion String Quartet played a special holiday performance at Tilles Center of CW Post Long Island University in Brookville. The quartet consists of talented violinists Katie Hyun and David Southorn, violist Wei-Yang Andy Lin along with cellist Mihai Marica; all of whom possess a seemingly infinite talent and dynamic which, in true holiday form, was simply magical. The breathtaking performance, which featured music originally composed by Beethoven, Hugo Wolf and Grieg, was the latest result of the quartet’s formation in 2009. That year, the musicians completed a performance at Sprague…

Written & Photographed by Linda Struffolino Saturday, September 13 started with a bit of clouds, but was a crisp fall-weather day that started this music festival at Farmingdale village. The crowd grew quickly around the tents, filling the town’s Main Street with eclectic arts and craft vendors. Farmingdale Music Fest boasted not one, but two performance stages, so no matter where you were on Main Street you were able to enjoy the sounds of every musician. For families, there was a even kids’ zone with music and a clown performing tricks. As I was enjoying the music of this folk…

Also photographed by Linda Struffolino of LRS Photography September has arrived, school is back in session and summer might feel like it is over.. but not at band and music hotspot Revolution Bar & Music Hall.   Th Amityville venue brings the party to Long Island all September long, hosting talented bands like Port City.  This weekend, I had the pleasure to be part of the crowd to see the LI natives’ live performance on Saturday September 6th. With a mixture of the roaring crowd, multiple guitar solos and a beautiful violin, the four gentlemen shared their musical talents that…

Photography also by Linda Struffolino As the Labor Day weekend began, The Emporium did it again, bringing talent to the Long Island nightlife and hip hop scene. Amazing to see this place packed as DJ Envy, DJs Live & Decoy along with many others turned the tables to warm up a crowd wildly excited to to see Future hit the stage.  Doors opened at 10 pm; as the night went on, the dance floor slowly began filling up while smoke and strobe lights set the club scene.  As 2 am grew closer, the crowd grew increasingly restless.  Finally around 2:30,…

Written and photographed by Linda Struffolino Long Island’s own The Joe Bayer Band warmed up the stage as the opening act for Blackjack Billy, the Nashville-based “redneck” country rock band bringing their style and liveliness to any arena they perform at.  The celebrated country boys from Tennessee, who previously shared a stage with Lynyrd Skynyrd, brought the country music to Long Island at our very own Emporium in Patchogue. They really shut it down, playing original songs and a few covers. The crowd was full of energy; these boys really know how to get a crowd moving. They closed…
