Canvas Party – Brooklyn Art Library!

By Kelly M. Coffey on April 30, 2019 #WeAreLIB, Art & Music, Coffey Talk, Entertainment, Poetry & Lit, Recent Events, Travel and Leisure

Over on Frost Street lives a snug lil art library with thousands of sketchbooks describing the most wondrous global expeditions, the worst rainy day coffee dates, and all sorts of advice on how to live off a few dollars in big expensive cities. There are so many wise folk disguised as artists in those stacks eager to share their messages of hope, despair, shame, and pure glee, throwing out enriching ideas left in the open to be fleshed out by the next participant. It’s majestic to watch something transform so harmoniously as it passes through the hands of so many different humans.

Art and libraries are two public resources that should, could, have, and still fight to connect us and keep us as so. Support both in your community where you see fit. Find places to volunteer, to donate, to enroll! The best way to empower any business is to be present, fill the room, and give people a reason to feel like their choices to be an artist or librarian were the best ones possible, that the fight to fund art and libraries is totally worthwhile. What’s wrong with throwing away stale habits which no longer serve us and finding creative freedom?

From the Brooklyn Art Library website:

CANVAS PARTY IS A NEW WAY TO INTERACT WITH A LOCAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITY WHILE CHALLENGING YOURSELF TO CREATE.

Join the Canvas Party! Each party includes a 4×4” canvas and a unique prompt to get you inspired. Complete it and send back your canvas to Brooklyn Art Library to receive a one of a kind canvas from another artist in our global community! Our matchmakers will do their best to find your perfect art companion. Make art and make friends through art!

Anyone – from anywhere in the world – can be a part of the project.

    PRICING: $35 / $55 with supplies

All party sizes come with FREE domestic shipping ‘3 ways’. Shipping to you, a return label back to us and then shipping of your swapped canvas!

WHY DOES THE PROJECT COST MONEY?

Canvas Party and Brooklyn Art Library are 100% funded through participation. You are not just buying a blank canvas, you are funding a global art project and library.

PREORDER YOUR CANVAS PARTY for 20% off! Use code ‘LETSPARTY’ at checkout.
