Friday August 12,2016, The Emporium Long Island had a legend in the building. Queens’ own legendary rapper, Nas.

Warming up the crowd was Hot 97’s own DJ Funk Flex. Flex was playing all the Nas’ classics teasing the sold out crowd. Nas came out to one of his classic’s “Hate Me Now” and the place went into a frenzy.

Nas thanked the crowd for coming out. Its amazing after all these years how much passion Nas still bring to all his songs. The crowd sang along to such classics as “New York State of Mind”, ”Nas is Like”, and “Escobar”. During his performance Nas brought out New York Rapper Dave East. The two gave each other a hug and Dave performed one of his smash hits.

While Dave East was performing I couldn’t help but notice the proud look Nas had on his face. Almost as if it was a father proud of his son. Moments like these are rare in hip-hop today, and this is what makes Nas a standout artist.

Nas closed the show with “New York State of Mind” while fans rapped along. Nas saluted the Long Island crowd and thanked everyone.
