Dreams are visualizing your goals. Living your dreams are one of the greatest gifts any of us can hope for. A group of Long Island boys made good, Year of the Locust are doing just that. They are living their dream!

There is something special when kids from our backyard make it big. YOTL just off their East Coast run came home to Amityville to play Revolution. This homecoming was well overdue. I personally needed a YOTL infusion.

I saw YOTL in of their first shows. The first impression was wow they have presence. That show 18 months ago, was built around a lot of Pearl Jam cover songs and other modern rock standards. Front man Scot McGiveron strong voice and the band’s technical know how draw me to this band.

Fast forward to this past weekend. YOTL has steady play on 94.3 The Shark, they are touring the country and consistently making new music. The days of them doing cover songs are over! They have a library of hits at their disposal. None bigger than “Home.”

Year of the Locust is raw power. Scot’s voice has that grit under your fingernails quality to it. It’s real. Watch him 30 seconds on stage and you will come to same conclusion I did- he was born to do this! Guitarist Peter Hellers and Bassist Fred Serrell work the strings impeccably.

2015 was without a doubt the Year of the Locust, but there is a chance 2016 will be as well.

Check them out at Revolution September 20th.
